Booking of ‘My Name Is Khan’ stopped at Mumbai Theaters

Mumbai: In a significant development, the theatre owners in Mumbai have stopped the booking of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming movie, ‘My Name Is Khan’, fearing backlash from Shiv Sena activists. The movie is slated for release on Friday, February 12.

Cinemax Cinemas have already stopped advance bookings for the film. Cinemax owns 13 cinemas in Mumbai and Thane. Other theatres have also followed suit. It is expected that the booking will begin tomorrow, as the Maharashtra government has deployed additional security forces across the cinema halls in Mumbai.

Nearly 1,000 Shiv Sainiks have been taken into custody by the Mumbai Police in the last two days. Shiv Sena activists had vandalised a few cinema halls in Mulund and Ghatkopar yesterday. They also threatened to stop the screening of the movie, until Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) apologisesd for his remark supporting Pakistani players on IPL issue.

The Maharashtra Government has decided to provide security to all 63 theatres in Mumbai, which will screen ‘My Name Is Khan’ from Friday. The leaves of all Mumbai policemen, have been cancelled. SRK’s security’s has also been tightened up.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray has returned the security cover provided to him by the Mumbai Police. In another development, Bal Thackeray’s rebel daughter-in-law, Smita Thackeray has come out in support of SRK, slamming the Shiv Sena for protesting against his movie.

it’s good 2 hear that movie release is postponed :-)

first the shahrukh khan and thakre plan for promotional stunt.

they had just stopped the stunt few days a go.

but later on, thakre was unable to control the agitation of the followers which led to this situation. :-(

people should protest by not watching the movie which are using such a way of promotion.
